Resolutions - Q1 Check-In and Measurement
April 1. That means we are finished with the first quarter, finished with 25% of the year. That seems like a good time to take a look back at our goals and measure how we are doing so far. Remember the Resolutions series from January where we said we'd help you stay accountable? Well, it's accountability time!
As you may remember, one of our resolutions for the year was to blog more around the topics of technology, social media, and marketing for business owners. Our plan included 1 blog entry per week, sticking to the 3 categories we selected, and staying on track with the topics we had planned. Since we told you we'd hold you accountable for your goals, we know we are accountable to you for ours so here's how we are doing:
- One blog entry per week - check. We have definitely posted a new blog every week, and some weeks, we even posted two when we had a lot to talk about.
- Sticking to the categories of technology, social media, and marketing - check. It may have been tempting at times to deviate when there really were some other things we wanted to talk about, but we want to keep our promise and keep the blog relevant to you and your business or work.
- Staying on track with the topics we had planned - partial credit! For the most part, we did follow the editorial calendar that we created for our blog late last year, but there were definite deviations from the plan from time-to-time. Like the release of the iPad 2. And the Verizon iPhone announcement. And the information on timing and social media. And Apple's iOS 4.3 update for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. Right, National Unplugging Day. And the Windows 7 Service Pack update. Oh, and the Facebook pages update. OK, so there was a lot of deviation from plan, but these were all important topics to keep you up-to-date on the latest happenings in technology and keep your technology current and working at maximum efficiency for you. Plus, mixing it up keeps it more interesting, right?
Measurement
Overall, we have a 2.5 out of 3 on this goal. Not bad - for the next quarter we'll have to adjust the plan to account for both planned topics and relevant news topics.
How about you? Any goals and updates you are willing to share? Any plan adjustments needed? What can we do to help keep you on track in the second quarter of 2011?
